Bresser Dachstein ED-APO 20-60x80 spotting scope
Bresser Dachstein ED-APO 20-60x80 spotting scope is part of the new top-line of Bresser spotting scopes! Rugged, waterproof, fully multi-coated, these properties are standard for the Dachstein line. These spotting scopes also feature exclusive ED optics. Colour trueness, contrast and sharpness of these lenses are far higher than in standard lenses. ED glass lenses (ED = Extra low Dispersion) are produced using a special process to reduce the so-called secondary spectrum to a minimum. ED delivers the same quality as so-called BaK4 glass.
Precise focus: coarse and fine mechanism
Additionally, this model has a focusing mechanism with a coarse and fine drive ensuring smooth and precise focusing. This feature is only available in Dachstein spotting scopes.
Available with 20x to 60x magnification
This version of the Bresser Dachstein spotting scopes has a minimum magnification of 20x, making it very suitable for use in the field, for shooting, and for keeping track of people. Is zooming needed? Then turn the eyepiece to make it zoom up to 60x, revealing even the smallest details. With a 80mm lens, you get true colours, and a clear picture.
APO lenses and ED coating: colour-true and sharp to the edges
APO means apochromatic. This means that the lens is better corrected for chromatic aberration. A simple lens will have a different focus depending on the wavelength of light. So for blue the lens will have a different focal length than for red. By using multiple elements lenses plus some special types of glass such as ED glass made of fluorite (this is actually not glass but an artificially grown crystal, very expensive and difficult to be worked) it can be ensured that the focal point coincides for all wavelengths.Note this is not an easy job and this will translate itself in a higher cost, especially in fast lenses where this problem is much more noticeable. For non-APO lenses the colour error can best be seen in the purple band at transitions from very bright to very dark. This band is caused by chromatic aberration. Ultimately, this aberration will cause a general decrease in sharpness and contrast.
