ATN MARS6-2I
ATN MARS6-2I is part of ATN's MARS series which is inspired by ATN's quest for technical perfection and named after the Roman god of war. The ATN MARS Series of Night Vision rifle scopes represent the latest developments in the world of night vision. Like all other ATN series, this ATN MARS series is equipped with the most advanced lens systems, partly computer-designed and equipped with lenses made from the toughest quality glass. All this has ensured that, with the MARS series, ATN have made a rifle scope with an ultra-fast light transmission and a resolution that even exceeds the current military standard. The tubes for this product are hand-selected and are constructed from a single piece of aluminium, NASA quality, and inlaid with titanium components. The ATN MARS series is the only of its kind with a setting for the colour of the crosshairs, red or amber. This gives the user the choice to change colour depending on personal preference or tactical situation.
ATN MARS Series
This version has a sixfold magnification and provides you with excellent observation, spotting and target performance so you'll be always target accurate. Automatic Brightness Control (ABC) adjusts the brightness of the image automatically so the viewer gives the best picture quality in all lighting conditions. ABC also protects light-sensitive parts in the tube against overexposure. When the visor is extremely exposed then the viewer is automatically turned off to prevent damage to the system. This ATN series offers a range of versions in different price ranges. The viewers are battery-powered. A 3V battery lasts 55 hours and a 1.5V battery lasts 40 hours. The ATN MARS6-2I features a built-in low-battery indicator which will alert you when it is time to change the battery.
Generation 2I
Second Generation night vision In a night rifle scope the image amplifying tube is the beating heart and this is also true for the ATN MARS6-2I. The difference between a first and a second generation unit is mainly the addition of a micro-channel plate, or MCP. The MCP works as an electron amplifier and is placed directly behind the photocathode. A photocathode is a negatively charged electrode in a night vision and has a photosensitive coating. From the moment light strikes it, the absorbed energy generates an emission of electrons. This process is caused by a photoelectric effect. Simply put, the MCP gives the electrons an extra push so that the second generation night vision provides a brighter and sharper image.

MOA
The vertical height adjustment ensures that the target in the viewer coincides with the spot where the bullet strikes. The flight of the bullet is affected by gravity in an arc orbit effect, the rifle scope follows a straight line. To compensate for this effect, the viewer has a turning wheel for adjusting the height. Usually, the viewer set to a certain distance, e.g. 25m. The adjustment wheel goes with clicks, so the adjustment per click is indicated as click value. The movement of the target point caused by one click of the dial is expressed in minutes (of degrees). A minute is 1/60th of a degree. In English this is called in English "Minute of Angle" or MOA. On a viewer it is often indicated what one click means for that specific model: 1/4 MOA, 1/8 MOA, so 1/240th or 1/480th of a degree.
Example
The distance to your goal is the radius of a vertical circle. With a distance of 10m, the circumference of a circle is 628m (2 x pi x r). One degree displacement is 628:360 = 1.74m, one minute is 1.74:60 = 0.029m or 2.9cm. Multiply this number by the amount of MOA, e.g. 1/4, and you have the vertical displacement of the target per click.
